आज़ादी का अमृत महोत्सव
1910 में बस्तर का भूमकाल आंदोलन ने अंग्रेज शासन को हिला कर रख दिया था। बस्तर में हुए भूमकाल आंदोलन अंग्रेजी हुकूमत के विरुद्ध आदिवासियों का सशस्त्र आंदोलन था। बस्तर में रानी सुबरन कुंवर ने अपने पति लाल कालेन्द्र सिंह के साथ कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ विद्रोह का ऐलान किया। गुण्डाधुर इसी विद्रोह के सेनापति थे।
1857 के मुक्ति संग्राम में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने वाली अवंती बाई लोधी का जन्म ग्राम मनकेड़ी, जिला सिवनी, मध्यप्रदेश में हुआ था। पति वीतरागी थे इसलिए शासन का भार उन्हें ही उठाना पड़ा। उन्होंने अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ निर्णायक युद्ध किया। उन्हें अमरशहीद वीरांगना रानी अवंतीबाई के नाम से जाना जाता है।
सावित्रीबाई ज्योतिराव फुले (3 जनवरी 1831 – 10 मार्च 1897) भारत की प्रथम महिला शिक्षक एवं समाज सुधारक थीं। उन्होंने अपने पति के साथ मिलकर स्त्री अधिकारों एवं शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय कार्य किए। 1852 में उन्होंने बालिकाओं के लिए एक विद्यालय की स्थापना की।
